The City of Artesia maintains a Transfer Station for Municipal and surrounding areas that are in need of trash disposal. We operate seven days a week and are open from 8:00 am to 4:45 pm. The transfer station is closed for major holidays.

In the city, our fleet of disposal trucks pick up both residential and commercial refuse. In the surrounding county, both residential and commercial trash is brought in to be disposed.

Trash is unloaded on a "tipping" floor and then pushed in a large trailer. This material is then compacted until the trailer is full and at a certain weight. The refuse is, then, transported to a landfill between Carlsbad and Hobbs.
