JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

There is position available for: RSVP Director 

PAY SCALE: $1,717 per month.

Term Position-Continuing employment subject to available grant funding.

Limited benefits based on available grant funding.   

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess all of the skills and abilities listed under this section on the job description to be considered for this position.

  • Demonstrated sound supervisory and management skills
  • Experience in working with the elderly and volunteers.
  • Background in community development and social service delivery programs.
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
  • High School Education or GED.
  • Demonstrated word processing experience, MS Word preferred.
  • Demonstrated spreadsheet experience, MS Excel preferred.
  • Experience with 10 key calculator.
  • Typing experience.

DUTIES: This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in the classification. 

  • Plans, organizes, and implements recruitment, enrollment, orientation, and placement of senior volunteers.
  •  Employs, supervises, and trains other RSVP project staff.
  • Adheres to and administers personnel policies and procedures for project staff consistent with those of the Sponsor and with the recommendations of the RSVP Advisory Council.
  • Provides assistance to the RSVP Advisory Council; discusses with the Council significant plans, local project policies, actions, changes, and problems affecting RSVP, including resource development.
  • Provides liaison for all aspects of RSVP with other units of the Sponsoring agency through its Chief Executive Officer.
  • Arranges for volunteer stations to provide needed volunteer orientation and training.
  • Develops, reviews, and updates Memorandums of Understanding and other appropriate documents with volunteer stations.
  • Approves assignments of volunteers.
  • Makes visits to volunteer stations.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relations with a variety of community service organizations and agencies.
  • Plans, develops, and implements an ongoing program of public relations in cooperation with the Sponsor.
  • Arranges for formal and regular recognition of volunteers, organizations, and individuals who have contributed to the support of the RSVP project.
  • Assists, as needed, the Sponsor in promoting needed community support for the project.
  • Develops and maintains up-to-date financial, staff personnel, project, and volunteer records.
  • In conjunction with the Sponsor and Advisory Council, prepares the renewal application for ACTION.
  • Adheres to the approved budget; applies sound fiscal procedures; provides budget data, as required; authorizes expenditures for the project, including specific approval of any vouchers for reimbursement submitted by RSVP volunteers.
  • Prepares and issues reports to meet the administrative and program needs specified by the Sponsor, Advisory Council, State, regional, and Federal personnel.
  • Coordinates with the Advisory Council and evaluates the effectiveness of RSVP’s operational procedures and program activities.
  • Attends conferences, meeting, and training programs related to the position, including those sponsored by ACTION.
  • Maintains awareness of gerontological data as well as current information on programs and services available to the elderly.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS and OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: Possessing some or all of the skills and abilities listed in this section will make a candidate more competitive. 

  • Knowledge of State RSVP programs
  • Knowledge of effective leadership skills
  • Experienced administrator with special training in senior programming, public relations and transportation.
  • Ability to work well with older people.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to make decisions
