QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess all of the skills
and abilities listed under this section on the job description to be considered
for this position.

High school diploma or GED.
-
Experience equivalent to six (6) months of
full-time labor and minor repair work.
-
Ability to lift objects weighing over 50
pounds.
-
Must posses and maintain a valid New Mexico
driver license or above at time of hire.
DUTIES:
This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and not
intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in
the classification.

Mows lawns, trims plants and shrubs, and
prunes bushes and trees.

Physically move large quantities of dirt and
turf.
-
Repairs and replaces tires, and maintains
and cleans shop area.
-
Keeps records of time worked.
-
Picks up and transports refuse and debris to
dump sites.
-
Cleans and cares for tools and equipment.
-
Assists equipment operators in a variety of
work settings to ensure safe and efficient completion of assigned projects.
-
Performs simple mechanical repairs.
-
Operates various types of hand-held and
electric powered tools and equipment such as chainsaw, string trimmer,
jackhammer, pruner and blower.
-
May operate light motor vehicles such as
lawn mowers, pickup trucks, and light dump trucks.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS and OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Possessing some or all of the skills and abilities listed in this section will
make a candidate more competitive.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety
precautions.

Ability of perform manual labor requiring
extensive physical exertion and prolonged exposure to the environment.

Ability to receive and follow oral and
written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
others.

Ability to perform tasks requiring manual
dexterity.

Skill in the operation and care of various
tire servicing and repair equipment.

Skill in the use of a variety of hand and
power tools.

Skill in the safe operation and use of assigned equipment and tools.
