CITY OF ARTESIA

There is position available
for: Recreation Aides or Recreation Leaders
PAY SCALE: T1 $6.50
per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess all of the skills and
abilities listed under this section on the job description to be considered for
this position.

Must be 15 years old or older on or before May
31st 2007.
-
Applicants with prior related experience
preferred.
-
Must be able to pass a rigid background
investigation including work history, criminal records, driving records and
other records deemed necessary.

Must submit the “Pre-Employment Release and
Waiver” form with the application.
-
Must have valid picture ID issued by the school
system or the State of NM.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class D driver’s
license issued by the State of New Mexico and have a satisfactory drivers
record (Rec. Leader)
DUTIES: This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE
ONLY and not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all
positions in the classification.

Monitors game rooms and other similar
activities at a City recreation center.

Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas.

Instruct and teach children of all ages.

Performs related work as required.

Performs other work as assigned.

Assists
in the carrying out of a variety of recreational activities for the City’s
ongoing recreational programs and special events
In addition to the above, duties for the
Recreation Leader:
-
May do some instruction and leading group
participation events, assists participants in enhancing their enjoyment of
the recreational activities.
-
May answer inquiries concerning the
recreational programs and its facility.
-
May issue equipment and give routine
instructions in the use of recreational equipment.
-
Assists with training and supervision of
recreation aides.
-
Ensures that safety rules and other
regulations are observed.

May drive City vehicles.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES,
SKILLS and OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: Possessing some or all of the skills and
abilities listed in this section will make a candidate more competitive.

Operate hand tools, both power and
non-power.
-
Work off of a ladder/confined spaces.
-
Physical dexterity.
-
Ability to lift 50 lbs
-
Ability to perform manual labor requiring
extensive physical exertions; prolonged exposure to the environment.

Ability to work with others.
