Homebound Services

he Artesia Public Library offers free delivery of materials to residents unable to visit the library because of age, illness, disability or other incapacitating circumstances. Delivery is scheduled according to temporary or long term needs, and services are tailored to your personal interests. We strive to offer the same access to information, both recreational and reference, that you would have when visiting the Library in person.

What can I request?

Our collection numbers in the thousands and includes:

  • Fiction
  • Non-Fiction
  • Large Print Books
  • Children's Books
  • Graphic Novels
  • Audio Books on CD
  • DVDs
  • Music CDs
  • Magazines
  • Libros en Español

Any material that circulates can be requested through our homebound service. You may request specific titles or our staff can select materials based on your interests. If we do not own the items you request, we can try to borrow them from another library. The lending library governs the amount of time materials may be checked out. Renewals are allowed only if there are no requests pending for the materials.

How many items will I receive?

This depends on your preference. We will bring you as many books as you feel comfortable with. We can adjust the number at any time.

When will I receive them?

Materials are delivered twice monthly by our staff, usually on Fridays between the hours of 9 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. We will keep you advised if there are any changes in delivery dates due to holidays, vacations, etc. Mutually convenient delivery times may be arranged.

What about Fines?

Overdue fines are not charged on homebound materials, however patrons are responsible for any lost or damaged materials.
